Forms of silence

Catalogue of the exhibition held at the convent from September 20th to December 11th, 2016 in Lyon around four international artists: Geneviève Asse / Jaromir Novotny / Friedericke von Rauch / Michel Verjux.

Le Corbusier used to say his buildings were made of concrete and light. Light, as an architectural material, is the common thread of this exhibition catalogue that draws parallels between the silent works of four artists: Geneviève Asse, Jaromir Novotny, Friedericke von Rauch and Michel Verjux.

A meditative journey through the various intensities of light: tenuous, when cast in shadows, delicate and slowly revealing shapes that dissolve in its brightness while playing with the architecture of the convent.

The audience is invited to a sensitive experience through subtle variations of light and to discover shapes that open up to a world of silence.

Le Corbusier's work is now listed as Unesco World Heritage!

Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier was born Charles-Edouard Jeanneret in 1887 and died in 1965. He is one of the most important representants of the modern movement with, for example, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropuis, Alvar Aalto and Theo van Doesburg. Installed in Paris since 1917, he participates to the creation of the Esprit nouveau, an art and architecture magazine in which he uses the pseudonym of Le Corbusier. After the WWII, he proposes his "unités d'habitation" (habitation units) and realises Marseille's Cité radieuse.

Great theoretician, he maintains his publications with le Modulor (1950), presentation of modern architecture.
