franckDavid / Toyota Corona

The work of franckDavid can be disconcerting, as there is no notion of style. In this rare artist, there is a clear desire to produce thought, to question the world based on things found, seen in the most ordinary everyday life or from the limbo of contemporary history. Each of Frank David's works is the result of a displacement, or more accurately, a shift between different fields of perception. What he presents is indeed an appropriation of reality, but it is augmented, usually politically and poetically. 

For this intervention in the Galerie 8 + 4, he is finally presenting Toyota Corona, a vast and ambitious project born out of the confinement. Imagined as a film without images and as the imaginary soundtrack to a possible end of history, the work is embodied in a vinyl record - three to be precise - and its sleeve. While the vinyl is a complex work of sound editing, the sophisticated sleeve becomes a screen whose imagination is partially paused by a succession of sleeves.

For two days, 7 and 8 July, from 2pm to 7pm, Toyota Corona will be activated in the Galerie 8 + 4 for listening sessions and meetings with the artist.
