Peter Downsbrough - Block Pieces
Block Pieces, inspired by a construction game, is a group of pieces that cut and animate the space in which they are placed, giving the spectator the possibility de produce many interpretations.
Peter Downsbrough designs his work as optical cuts that animate, perturbate, suspend or inverse the space in which they are placed. With a minimalist vocabulary composed of simple words and geometrical shapes, limited to their simplest expression, he leads the spectator to question his place and destiny in the world. Always open to many interpretations, each one of his creations questions our language's and culture's basis. For several years, Peter Downsbrough has realized small sized sculptural pieces, as situations to contextualize. With Block Pieces, he imagined a series of 7 wooden elements, gathered in a box, each element carries a word. He finds inspiration in construction games and leads the buyer to compose a whole where each element answers to the others while intervening actively in the space they are in.
