Julie Polidoro treats her paintings like diagrams, maps and sketches of abstract sites. In her work, the drawing structures the composition. But the beauty of the work comes from the vibrant and saturated colors as well as the transparency effects. To drawings, that make light of our world’s codified representations –here, those of geographic maps-, she opposes the power of subjectivity expressed by her brushstrokes and her tracing paper effects where strange motifs overlap. In her two recent editions, she addresses the politic dimension of the world. Political conflicts are erased to leave room to the dynamic of color.
