Faced with the urgent issue of living together, the worrying reduction in our planet's possibilities due to global warming, and the necessary questioning of what growth implies, what a territory, a city, or even a simple building is, we were prompted to focus on a little-known collection of original drawings by Claude Parent (1923-2016). Recognized as one of the most innovative architectural theorists of the 1970s-2000s and a historical figure in architecture, Claude Parent had the rare distinction of being both an artist and an architect. This part of his work, a true artistic extension of his reflections on the place of man in the world, on the role of migration, and on the possibility of investing in the subsoil of our territories, remains largely unknown to the general public. For this occasion, we will present several sets of drawings and ink works from the years 2000-2010, all of which have remained in the private collection of his heirs. A true revelation unveiling an iconoclastic mind, these graphite or India ink drawings resemble free extrapolations of architecture turned landscape, sometimes highly stylized, even abstract. Far from being mere illustrations, Claude Parent's drawings are charged with power, messages, and sometimes even anger. Alongside his architectural work, they constitute an artistic oeuvre in their own right.

The collection offered by Galerie 8+4, taken directly from the Claude Parent archives, offers collectors a striking glimpse into an artist and architect who never stopped thinking differently about our world.
