Jean-Charles Blais. Bages

After Philippe Favier in 2019 and Lionel Sabatté in 2020, the Maison des arts de Bages will present from 10 July to 9 September 2021 a current exhibition of the work of Jean-Charles Blais.

The artist, who has been associated with the Figuration Libre movement since 1981, produces a singular and original style of painting, using unusual materials and spontaneous, "primitive" and imaginative subjects. Blais works only with discarded materials, newspapers and pieces of torn posters with layers of varying thicknesses. He uses the slightest blister, the slightest roughness to breathe movement, like a painter in the Lascaux caves.

An original text by the writer Marcel Cohen accompanies this new set of creations which will be presented for the first time at the Maison des arts de Bages.
