Javier Pérez / INTERFERENCIAS
A series of moving and poetic original triptychs by artist Javier Pérez.
For Javier Perez, Interferencias represents a kind of culmination of research begun several years ago. While a large part of his practice focuses on the human body, both in its carnal and imaginary dimensions, this new series of works shifts the focus to the instability of our perceptions of nature. Each triptych is based on a series of photographs taken at dusk, a particular moment when forms tend to dissolve. The artist then slowly covered each of these images with a veil of ink, playing with effects of opacity and shimmer. Although the first image of each triptych clearly reveals the initial motif, the next two offer a skilful blurring between our objective perception of the world and the irruption of the imaginary as a form of interpretation. Interferencias is thus an ironic charge on the condition of photography (and visuals in general) in our time. In a world where the virtual seems increasingly threatening, Interferencias proposes, with unparalleled refinement, to put the human back at the centre of our lives and our imaginations.
Four triptychs were composed by the artist for the sale, all of them unique. They are numbered I to IV.
