Champion Métadier - Photographies originales
Champion-Métadier creates Captures, produced under “the dictates of the unconscious”. They allow us to see what the eye does not immediately distinguish.
Champion Métadier creates new Captures, in a Bernard Chauveau limited edition.
Métadier was born in Tours, and she lives and works in Paris and in New York.
These works trace their origin not in the snapshot, but in the older practice of macro photography. The shots, produced under “the dictates of the unconscious”, allow us to see what the eye does not immediately distinguish. Just like Timetrackers, her Captures evoke by their name the cynegetic, the art of hunting. An art that seems to hold its prey out of the reaches of time and space as we perceive them.
Reworked, redesigned, they contain a new haptic dimension - which refers to the touch - and a new depth. This results in strong contrasts between the figures and the background, the solid planes of colour and the modelled zones of photographic delicacy. To sum up, from the digital icons of Timetrackers succeed these equally familiar but equally undefined objects.
Two photographs are available: Capture 1 and Capture 2, mounted on a light box.
