This catalogue, published under the direction of Stéphane Ibars, Artistic Director of the Collection Lambert and curator of the exhibition, is composed of the artist's personal and unpublished texts, like so many reflections on her work, kept secret until now, as well as a text by Stéphane Ibars in the form of a letter addressed to the artist on the significance of her intervention at the Collection Lambert. Numerous views of the exhibition will illustrate the itinerary devised by Pascale Marthine Tayou to create a singular object that is both simple and generous, testifying to the importance of this exhibition in the development of the artist's career and the life of the Avignon art centre.

Tr(eeg) : The egg tree
Like a child's game, this is a dream to contemplate alone or in a group.
It's a convivial celebration of chance,
It's about making ephemeral poetry about the thing-object possible and lasting, to say that nature is not dead and to repeat that we are the branches of its fruits,
to say that we are its mysterious eggs or its leaves on earth in a plastic way,
to say this... seems to me a commitment to be shared with you as a matter of urgency.

Born in 1966 in Nkonsamba, Cameroon, the artist lives and works in Ghent, Belgium, and Yaoundé, Cameroon. Since the 1990s, followed by her acclaimed appearances at Documenta 11 (2002) in Kassel and the Venice Biennales in 2005 and 2009, Pascale Marthine Tayou has continued to practise an art that knows no boundaries, that is nomadic, intuitive and hybrid, and that mixes and assembles objects taken from her everyday life. Using different media and forms, he diverts these objects from their original purpose. He transforms them and 'relocates' them with glee into new, sensitive situations in which the world is seen - unplacable - according to social, cultural and political constructs that need to be thwarted.
