Giuseppe Penone. Le Bois sacré du couvent de La Tourette
An exceptional artist's book by Giuseppe Penone, as part of his solo exhibition at the convent of La Tourette.
As part of his exhibition at the convent of La Tourette, Giuseppe Penone produced a set of 63 rubbings on canvas on the walls of the convent, in the 63 colours of Le Corbusier's colour chart, revealing, through this gesture, the imprint of the wood present on the surface of the rough concrete walls of decoffrage.
Giuseppe Penone wanted to bring together this collection of rubbings in an artist's book, the most important one he has produced to date. Every detail of this object has been entirely imagined by the artist, with a wood and steel binding, the title stenciled and a specific slipcase. In this work, Giuseppe Penone has revealed the discreet and poetic presence of nature within Le Corbusier's architecture. The edition includes 63 signed and numbered copies. The book will be presented exclusively at the Convent of La Tourette from 11 October.

Penone (Giuseppe)
A member of Arte Povera, Giuseppe Penone has been creating very special artworks since the late sixties, showing man in interaction with nature, involving vegetation, modifying its growth, carving out tree trunks to reveal their inner structure, growth curves and plastic richness.More recently, he has deliberately directed his work toward the question of man's position regarding classical history, or his place in an increasingly artificial environment.
