Elger Esser, Lacus Rubresus. Maison des arts de Bages
The book Lacus Rubresus presents Elger Esser's new work in the Mediterranean, on the occasion of his exhibition at the Maison des Arts in Bages from July 6 to September 29, 2024.
In this book, the photographer brings together a previously unpublished corpus of 30 shots of Ile Sainte-Marguerite and Etang de Bages. A text by Sylvain Prudhomme accompanies this stroll.
Elger Esser is a Franco-German artist-photographer whose work can be found in major museum collections such as the Guggenheim in New York and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. A student of Bernd and Hilla Becher at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts, he broke away from their teaching when he discovered landscape. With his camera, he travelled to many countries, photographing and recording timeless landscapes where water plays an essential role.
