Clément Bagot - Songe de particules
Galerie 8+4 is delighted to present the exhibition by Clément Bagot from May 17 to July 11, 2025.
Clément Bagot produces drawings of exceptional precision in which line becomes detail, leading the eye to question scale, hesitating between macrocosm and microcosm—views from outer space, imagined territories resembling city plans, or images of the infinitely small organic world.
Strongly influenced by the codes of cartography, the graphic language of science fiction comics, scientific imagery of the microcosm, and the practice of line in 18th-century engraving, the artist proposes configurations in which each image unfolds through almost antinomic layers of figuration, with ruptures in scale and ambiguous relationships to reality.
Like few artists, he offers a body of work open to reverie and imaginary wandering through the folds of the image. His work stages the question of the line, its relationship with the background, and its capacity to represent. All of Clément Bagot’s practice returns to origins—to the roots—of the work and thus of its meaning. Here, the “inframince” continually asserts itself within patterns in which each line reinforces a pareidolic vision of the whole.
He constantly seeks to educate our gaze by compelling us to better perceive the ambiguities inherent in every image, every representation. The exhibition at Gallery 8+4 will also provide the opportunity to present a new series of drawings reintroducing a form of figuration in which the human presence, in the guise of robots, appears as if to reaffirm that his art is also rooted in imaginary worlds offering striking visions of the future. The exhibition will be complemented by several sculptures, another field of creation that extends these inquiries through other means, particularly with architectural structures that evoke both cities of the future and robotic beings in search of embodiment.
