Throughout his life and career, Alberto Giacometti corresponded with his family. These letters, transcribed in the collection, are an exceptional opportunity to enter the intimate world of the artist, while discovering the artist's intimate world, while discovering remarkable and unpublished details of his creative work. Some photographs and famous or lesser known works famous and lesser-known works of art are interspersed throughout the letters.

In the post-war years, through continuous research, Giacometti developed a style that would make him famous in the international scene. New friendships were formed, and emblematic models (Simone de Beauvoir, Jean Genet, Isaku Yanaihara, Eli Lotar) came to pose at the studio. Throughout these years, and until the death of his mother in the early 1960s, he continued to write to his family, sharing with them his encounters, successes and doubts, and testifying to his deep and persistent attachment to his native environment.
