This house built in Saulieu, Côte-d’Or, in 1956, by architect André Wogenscky for a veterinarian and his family is an epitome of modernist architecture as well as an in-depth reflection around lifestyles and the organization of a family and professional space after WWII. The signature of this building now listed historic monument is to be found in a couple of significant details.

The professional activity of the veterinarian is separated from the rest of the house reserved for the family. The design of windows, conceived like volumes, is especially interesting: the double-glazed windows have an external panel, which, once pulled back, creates a cob-shaped folding screen from the outside. The outdoor stairway also contributes to the façade with a colorful volume… the Bandelier house was André Wogenscky’s first creation as an independent architect.

The book contains many historical photos and archives, especially excerpts from the correspondence between the architect and the contracting authorities of the house.
