Réalités (in)visibles. Autour d'Albert Kahn, les archives de la Grande Guerre
Made between 1909 and 1931, the Archives de la Planète represents one of the most comprehensive funds of color photographs from the beginning of the 20th century.
The Archives de la Planète represents an exceptional fund of color photographs and black and white films on World War I. On the occasion of the Centenary commemoration, the museum questions the very unique status of this fund in Albert Kahn’s project. What are the repercussions of the conflict on the banker’s work? How did he contribute to the Great War archives?
Conceived in a collaborative and comparatist spirit, this book proposes a transversal point of view on the collections in collaboration with the main actors of the Great War heritage. In 2017, this project was labeled “Centenary 14.18” by the Mission of the First World War Centenary.
Extremely rich banker, enlightened amateur and humanist engaged in a peacemaking project, Albert Kahn explored the political and social issues of his time and looked to bring solutions to the problems he identified. He invested most of his private fortune in an encyclopedic project.
