NILS-UDO was born in 1937. He lives and works in Germany, where he studied graphic art at the fine art school of Nuremberg from 1955 to 1960. Pioneer of the “Art in Nature” movement, he interacts with landscape without ever degrading it.

From Connemara to the Reunion Island, the Vassiviere Island to Central Park, this world-traveller conceives each intervention with materials he finds on site. NILS-UDO’s artistic career began in the 60s. It was in the 70s that he started to photograph natural installations, whether “nests”, “altars” or “water house”. NILS-UDO’s installations celebrate nature and invite us to rediscover what our eyes and senses no longer perceive.

The exhibition at Matmut pour les arts, the contemporary art center of the Matmut, gathers emblematic photographic works as well as exclusive pictorial pieces by Nils-Udo.

The catalogue is French/German bilingual.
