Legendary and visionary gallery owners, Liliane and Michel Durand-Dessert worked in Paris for nearly thirty years (1975-2004) to defend contemporary creation. In addition to this commitment, which led to the recognition of many artists, they have also been, since the early 1980s, astute and passionate collectors of ethnographic objects, who have assembled a magnificent collection of pre-Columbian art.

The MAMC+ honours a selection of forty-five works, most of them previously unseen, in an exhibition that pays tribute to the curiosity of both collectors. These works are a true ode to Olmec art and are the result of a sound aesthetic taste and profound knowledge.

The works, commented by Liliane Durand-Dessert, are accompanied by an essay by the eminent archaeologist and anthropologist specialising in Olmec art, Caterina Magni. A true synthesis of knowledge on this civilization born in the ancient lands of Mexico in the middle of the 2nd millennium BC, this essay with its clear positions will not fail to arouse the interest of laymen and specialists alike.

A journey through one of the most prestigious private collections of pre-Columbian art in France!
