On the occasion of a series of residencies organized between February and April 2021, Lionel Sabatté invested the engraving workshop of the URDLA in Villeurbanne. For this explorer of matter and figuration, this technique was a simple pretext to test new modes of creation from surprising and recycled materials. Closer to monotype than to engraving, these works of various formats were the occasion to intervene directly on the plates, then back in his Parisian studio to enhance them on paper by varying the interventions from paint or inks.
