To further affirm the fertile dialogue between past creations and the present, Arteas Ancient Art gallery and Galerie 8+4 have chosen to design a joint presentation for this fair. Although divided into two adjoining spaces, the stand offers a unique opportunity to understand how works dating back to Antiquity respond to contemporary creation, itself fascinated by our origins.

Echoing the ancient fragments, the works we present this year testify to the continuity of the artistic gesture which, beyond objects and styles, and even beyond techniques, continues to question our relationship with the world.

Claire Trotignon creates collages from antique engravings that open onto landscapes of ruins, evoking an imaginary antiquity and a future dominated by emptiness.

Clément Bagot unfolds extremely meticulous ink drawings, true abstract maps from which uncertain biomorphic forms emerge.

Lionel Sabatté reinvents tapestry by linking it to the original gestures of humanity, such as those of Neanderthals engraving the spirits of the living onto stone.

Gilles Pourtier identifies in the everyday objects of our consumer society forms which, once transposed into marble, recall the finest achievements of Cycladic art.

Emma Lutz creates glass vessels that lie between primitive artwork and experimental design, reviving one of humanity’s earliest techniques: core-forming.

And finally, Christian Jaccard, whose painted pebbles evoke both the Callipygian Venuses and a distinctly contemporary reflection on painting.
