As part of a larger project, MineralSkin investigates the possible relationship between emotion and science, intimacy and genetics and the reordering of natural processes, as well as social stigmas.
MineralSkin is a sculptural statement of the junctions between worlds, the connection between mineral and human : dissected carefully and, just like in biological studies, set into a showcase where the space within gets to be a period in our evolution.
Hand-folded by Origami specialists, MineralSkin is studied to appear as the skin of a mineral structure and the structure of a biological skin. The oak wood hand-made case made is conceived to be hanged in multiple positions, so as to express different impressions. The back part of the MineralSkin is painted, and good care is taken that this cannot be seen from the front.
The light that represents life, penetrates into the box to rebound endlessly on the background panel….this reflects the color and creates a magical halo of colored light on the background that makes the piece seem to be floating in the air.
MineralSkin is a collection of different pieces in several forms, cuts, colors and expressions and comes in two sizes. They can be put together as representation and testimony of one’s own skin.
