Xavier Veilhan - ON / OFF
Xavier Veilhan, a major figure in the art world, has presented a polymorphous work that questions modes of historic and contemporary representation.
The Galerie des Galeries (Galeries Lafayette-Haussman) has become the spot of previously unseen synergy between contemporary art and music, transforming this space into an “exhibition-stage”.
Xavier Veilhan, a major figure in the art world, has presented a polymorphous work that questions modes of historic and contemporary representation. Xavier Veilhan, a passionate music-lover, has developed his research in performances and shows during the past few years by collaborating with Sébastien Tellier, the Air group and Eliane Radigue. With them, he has sought to associate the emotional power of music and the formal setting of the exhibition, inviting the spectator to a multiple sensorial experience.
The vinyl ON/OFF has two sides, with recordings of a concert the artists gave at the Galerie des Galeries:
FACE A
- Zombie Zombie « La Danse des ombres »
- Moodoïd « De folie pure »
- Juniore « Christine »
FACE B
- Tristesse contemporaine « I do what I want »
- Turzi « Connaissance »
- Chassol « Odissi – part II »
- Jef Barbara « I don’t know what’s going on but something’s coming on »
The vinyl is accompanied by a leperello (an accordion-book) conceived by Xavier Veilhan. It has photographs of the concerts, the programme of the vinyl and a photomontage of the “exhibition-stage”.
