Gilles Pourtier / Des corps célestes
Des corps célestes exhibition, from 8 Octobrer to 26 November 2022. Opening on 8 October from 5 to 9 pm.
With the support of Centre national des arts plastiques (National centre for Visuals Arts)
Gilles Pourtier belongs to this generation of artists trained in photography for whom the medium is a means of questioning our relationship to the world. While his body of work includes many photographs and snapshots, he also uses other means of expression that question the image in our contemporary society.
His works take the form of stone sculptures, neon lights and false monochromes, each of which reflects a questioning of our environment. And when he uses old techniques such as the daguerreotype or the cyanotype, it is to better confront them with the most contemporary electronic imaging techniques.
For his first solo exhibition in a gallery in Paris, Gilles Pourtier has chosen light as his theme, summoning both the alterations that the sun's rays cause on sensitive surfaces (such as photography or human skin) and the very idea of transcendence perceptible in the cosmogony inherent in some of his works.
